Audience Club

The Audience Club is a space for encounter, exchange and reflection for people from the Alcanena region who wish to deepen their relationship with the performing arts. Throughout the final quarter of each year, it accompanies a selection of performances presented at Cine-Teatro São Pedro in Alcanena, as well as open sharings of artistic processes in development.

The Club seeks to create a temporary community of spectators brought together by the pleasure of watching, listening and discussing the world through artistic works. Some sessions are preceded by preparatory moments for the performance — a warm-up of the gaze and the listening experience through elements present in each creation. Following the presentations, informal conversations among participants, and sometimes with the artists themselves, extend the experience, creating space for the exchange of perspectives, questions and interpretations.

The Audience Club continues the project Seeing in the Dark (Ver no Escuro), developed by Materiais Diversos since 2017, reinforcing the organisation’s commitment to fostering critical, curious and engaged audiences.

The 2026 edition, running from September to December, will be led and moderated by Nuno Preto, who will also facilitate the Debate Club workshops with 7th-year students from the Alcanena School Cluster, encouraging exchanges between generations, experiences and ways of thinking.
